Materials Details

  • Wall: The exterior wall assembly deliberately elevates the container beyond its industrial roots. Over the steel frame sits a two‑layer rainscreen: first, a 50 mm polyisocyanurate insulation blanket for thermal performance, and second, fiber‑cement cladding panels finished in RAL 7038 agate‑grey for a crisp, retail‑grade surface that resists Abu Dhabi’s UV and coastal humidity. Vertical panel joints are expressed as 8 mm shadow gaps on an aluminum T‑grid, lending a refined, architectural rhythm. Crowning the elevation, a 150 mm‑high mild‑steel fascia is pre‑rusted and clear‑sealed, introducing a warm corten‑like accent while concealing LED strip lighting and rooftop services. Around the service window, a powder‑coated aluminum picture frame in RAL 7021 black‑grey provides depth, shade, and a durable edge against daily wear. Together, these materials deliver a balanced palette—cool, smooth cement boards offset by the earthy steel band—that is both low‑maintenance and visually distinctive in the desert context.
  • Windows: The storefront window is conceived as both a service hatch and the main visual focal point of the façade. It is detailed as a deep‑set aluminum “picture frame” module (100 mm reveal) powder‑coated in RAL 7021 black‑grey, providing a crisp contrast against the light‑grey wall panels while acting as a passive shading visor to cut midday glare.

Glazing is a single, uninterrupted low‑E, double‑tempered unit with a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient ≤ 0.25, ensuring thermal comfort in Abu Dhabi’s harsh sun. The lower half is top‑hung and outward‑pivoting, creating a flush service counter when open, while the fixed upper lite maintains structural rigidity and uninterrupted sightlines. Concealed gas struts allow smooth, tether‑free operation, and an integral drop‑seal along the sill provides dust and insect control when closed.

Internally, the window’s jambs are lined with brushed‑stainless edge trims for durability against repeated tray contact, and a slim, warm‑white LED strip recessed into the head illuminates the transaction zone at night. Externally, the 100 mm reveal collects subtle shadow lines that animate the façade throughout the day, emphasizing the kiosk’s minimalist massing.

Architecture Detailing

Archi visuals:- The design, conceived by Abdul Nazar K M (Abu Dhabi, UAE), expresses a minimalist, single‑volume architecture where a repurposed 150 ft² shipping container is refined into a sleek, contemporary kiosk. Smooth light‑gray cladding panels emphasize the container’s rectilinear mass while erasing its industrial origins, presenting a clean canvas for strong brand graphics. A continuous rust‑toned recessed band crowns the parapet, its concealed LED strip washing the surface with warm light and introducing a rich, corten‑inspired accent that contrasts with the cool façade.

Brand identity is celebrated on two elevations: oversized “PARATTA STATION” channel letters and a whimsical chef‑mascot cut‑out rise above the roofline, ensuring visibility from multiple approach angles. A large, centrally placed picture window—framed in a deep charcoal surround—serves both as a customer‑service hatch and a display aperture, visually connecting interior activity with the street while reflecting surrounding landscape and sky to animate the façade.

Vertical blade sconces punctuate the main wall, casting narrow beams that elongate the compact form and enliven the exterior at night without producing excessive glare. Door seams are aligned with the panel grid, maintaining a seamless appearance when closed and reinforcing the minimalist aesthetic.

Functionally, the plan dedicates a rear strip to preparation and utility services, leaving the front half open for customer interaction. Mechanical equipment and exhaust ductwork are concealed behind the raised parapet, preserving the building’s pristine silhouette. The result is a small‑scale architectural gesture that deftly balances brand expression, environmental responsiveness, and pragmatic food‑service requirements within a restrained, container‑based envelope.
